Austmine Chair Elizabeth Lewis-Gray Accompanies Prime Minister on Visit to North America

Published: 21/08/2014

“Elizabeth Lewis-Gray, Chair Austmine was invited by the Prime Minister to join a select delegation travelling to North America from 8th – 16th June. This was part of the Government’s plan to strengthen economic opportunities and build broader relationships with key partners.

The Minister for Trade and Investment, the Hon Andrew Robb, accompanied the delegation throughout the visit, which included Ottawa, New York, Toronto and Houston.  The business programme of the trip focussed on five key sectors;  investment and infrastructure financing, medical research, aviation, energy and resources and financial services and funds management. The extensive programme included business roundtables, a number of which focussed exclusively on the resources and energy sectors.

The mission was an excellent opportunity to promote the importance of the METS sector to the Prime Minister, the Trade and Investment Minister, and other key government representatives, as a major contributor to Australian mining productivity, innovation, and our country’s economic future.

Excellent networking opportunities with senior representatives of the resources and energy sectors in the USA and Canada were achieved.”
