Emma Watson, British actor and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, co-hosts a special event for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign. The HeForShe campaign is a solidarity movement for gender equality which calls upon men and boys to help end the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally.
One of the more notable aspect of Emma’s speech was the inclusion of the fact that gender inequality hurt men directly as well as indirectly. She speaks about issues like the male suicide rates and the promotion of aggressive male behaviour etc. and the fact this directly hurts men greatly.
She doesn’t just asking men to stand against female inequality, it seems she is promoting the idea that addressing male inequality iss part of the solution in creating a gender-equal society.
