Shana Blakely’s career in mining began 20 years ago as a Mine Engineer with Newmont Mining Corporation. She climbed the ladder of success at Newmont for more than 15 years. She held many different positions during her employ with the company, including Mine Operations Foreman, Senior Mine Engineer, Senior Supervising Mine Engineer and Project Manager, until joining Rio Tinto Minerals in the management position she currently holds with the company.

Over the years, Ms. Blakeley has developed a reputation as the quintessential manager capable of assisting in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals / deadlines and evaluating performances. Ms. Blakeley has a Bachelor of Science from Montana Tech in Mining and Engineering and is currently involved with ISMC and Women in Mining.
