Portraits & Interviews of Women in Mining in South Africa

Published: 13/03/2014

Solver Consulting is a South African consultancy specialising in skills development, project management, market analysis, impact assessments and best practice benchmarking studies.

What attracted my attention to them is a page about women in mining they have on their website which portrays several women working in the sector in South Africa as well as an article that describes the situation of women in mining and the context in the country.

The women interviewed are:
Jenny Groenewald: Shaft Foreman for Black Mountain Mining
Asanda Benya: PhD (Sociology) in progress, Equipment Helper & Winch Operator
Catherine Hills: A renowned trusted advisor in the e – commerce space of the world’s largest supplier network
Carolyn Hutton: First female HR Manager as part of a management team in the coal division of SA
Lelanie Prinsloo:  A look into the life of the first woman rock engineer in coal mining

Great initiative and feature!
