March 09, 2015
March 8 marked the 104th anniversary of International Women’s Day (IWD). This global celebration highlights women’s valuable political, social, economic, and cultural contributions to society.
Newmont is committed to promoting women’s rights and gender diversity in our workforce, as well as in the communities where we operate. While we all have more work to do, we have made progress toward our goals by:
• Establishing targets for increasing female representation in our leadership ranks and our overall workforce – and increasing female representation among executives from 13 percent to 15 percent last year
• Expanding our employee-led Business Resource Groups (BRGs) — including the Women & Allies BRGs — which empower advocates for diversity and change and often identify solutions to important business matters
• Integrating diversity and inclusion concepts and practices into our leadership training, talent management and recruiting programs
• Receiving recognition for strong female representation on our Board of Directors
Promoting global inclusion and diversity in our workforce and host communities includes encouraging more women to join our business to build successful careers in the mining industry. Let’s honor this important day, and the women in our lives, by working together to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
