A report highlighting the progress and potential of advancing the diversity agenda in African mining

Investing in African Mining Indaba’s ebook has been published. It includes an introduction by Harry Chapman, Head of Content for Mining Indaba, and their diversity agenda for the February 2019 conference when they eventually achieved a 25% ratio of female speakers, up from 11% in 2018. A huge portion of the report are interviews with mining professionals who provide insight into the realities of women working in mining and their ideas and suggestions. In the latter part of the ebook are the results of a study on students about their views on diversity, with takeaways for the mining industry.

International Women in Mining (IWiM), along with Women in Mining UK (WIM) and Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA) were contributing partners for this ebook. Barbara Dischinger, Director of IWiM, was interviewed and she discussed the challenges that women face in mining and what IWiM is doing to support women in the sector.
