Dear International WIM Supporter
Our Summer issue of the International WIM newsletter is here: in it you can find about what events and progress made by all WIM groups around the world as well as check out if there will be a WIM event near you in the next 2 month. You can read interviews of women working in the sector, check out who has changed jobs and read articles and reports on related topics.
Editorial
It has been a busy month during which we approached more senior ladies to join our advisory council: two more people are confirmed but unfortunately we can’t announce the whole team yet. We talked to a number of other people all over the world about possible projects, setting up new groups, helping existing ones, introducing ourselves to new WIM groups etc.
In a recent post on our discussion forum a few members told me that they would like to see more tools and articles on careers, mentoring, leadership, balance between motherhood and career etc. In response I launched of Soft skills page on the website. It can be found under the resources header.
We published a survey last week. The objective of the survey is to ask you how you connect with International Women in Mining Community online and how we could improve our services to you.
This is your chance to give us honest feedback. We have received 80 responses so far and hope that many more of you will participate. To do so click on this link
We plan to send out another survey in Q3 about projects and initiatives where we will ask your input as to which projects you’d prefer for us to work on and for you to offer ideas.
We value your opinion and want to build a community where everyone can have a say.
We have posted some internal volunteer vacancies. We are looking for a Head of Publications, Head of Marketing, Head of Social Media, Head of Membership, Head of Admin and a Web designer/Web developer. Let us know if you have special skills and some time to help us grow.
Because it is summer in the Northern hemisphere (where we are based), we will take a break and return in September. Therefore, we are introducing two profiles in this newsletter. Maria Laura Barreto will be gracing our homepage in July and Ebony McGee in August.
Best wishes and happy reading
Barbara
