Codelco nearly withdrew from participating in Expomin 2016, a fair which meets every two years for the mining world. The reason stated? The treatment, allegedly, given to women at this event. In addition to the usual promoters and models at such meetings, the fair invitations were distributed at nightclubs and promotional teams of these centers nearby.

State mining informed the organisers that this was incompatible with the company policy of gender equality, and called for changes or otherwise not participate, confirmed to “El Mercurio” in the copper company. Following these negotiations, Codelco and the Mining Ministry, headed by Williams and Expomin Aurora agreed to hold a seminar on gender policy, which will be held next March 22 and a similar time during the performance of the Expomin, which is sponsored by various government agencies. But it is still in doubt the presence of promoters of nightclubs that are installed at the entrances to the fair.

Expomin, which will be held between 25 and 29 next April, is the most important sample event in Latin America and the second most important mining fair in the world. In the framework of this meeting business conferences, technical talks and seminars are conducted in the mining sector.
