Four hundred and ninety-one CEOs will receive 2020 Women on Boards’ Winning “W” Certificates this week, recognizing their commitment to gender diversity in the boardroom. Winning “W” Companies is the 2020 campaign’s designation for companies that have 20% or more of their board seats held by women. Forty five more companies are on this year’s “W” list than last year and 256 companies were named to this year’s Honor Roll for being on the “W” list for 3 consecutive years.

The Winning “W” Companies are a subset of 2020 Women on Board’s Gender Diversity Directory, a database of 1580 companies categorized by the gender diversity of their boards. In 2013, there were 215 Very Close “V” Companies with 11% – 19% board seats held by women, 552 Token “T” Companies (one woman) and 318 Zero “Z” Companies (no women).

In October, the 2020 Women on Boards campaign released its Gender Diversity Index of Fortune 1000 companies for 2013. The campaign’s signature event, the National Conversation on Board Diversity will be held this year on November 20.
