Workforce diversity and inclusion in the resources industry a source of competitive advantage

Blackwater, the “Coal Capital of Queensland”, has seen its fair share of the ups and downs of the commodities cycle. That didn’t stop this gathering of ladies from Wesfarmers Resources, Thiess, BHP Billiton Misubishi Alliance and Dyno Nobel, who enjoyed a social dinner at the Capricorn Hotel on Tuesday 15th September. The event was organised by WIMARQ in Blackwater.

In times of financial stress, it’s often difficult for companies to look beyond the bottom line. It’s important to remember that workforce diversity and inclusion in the resources industry can be a source of competitive advantage. Diverse teams with varied perspectives are in the best position to think outside the box and drive improved productivity from installed capacity, leading to better outcomes for all.

Upcoming events for both WIMARQ and related groups such as AusIMM and also relevant news articles are displayed regularly on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages. If you’re interested in hosting a WIMARQ event or getting a group going in your area, please contact us for assistance.
