Position Overview

Bechtel has an opening for a degree qualified, RPEQ Civil Engineer based in Brisbane to move into our imminent pipeline of upcoming work. 

We have roles for greenfield and brownfield projects, from studies through to execution in the mining and metals industry across a range of commodities in our Fortitude Valley office in Brisbane.

What You’ll Be Doing:

In your new role, you will plan, develop, coordinate and review engineering work within the Civil discipline on projects in the Mining and Metals global business unit. 

Supervising day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, designers and drafters including minor structural engineering works, as relevant you will conduct annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions. 

Among other duties, you will prepare or oversee the preparation of discipline job hour estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.  

What You’re Good At:  

To be successful in your new role, you will have demonstrated design experience in the mining and/or heavy industry environment including design of: 

  • Haul roads 
  • Light vehicle on-site and off site access roads 
  • Site drainage, sedimentation systems and ponds 
  • Bulk earthwork and building pads 
  • Track/rail system experience preferred but not essential

You will have experience in study phases (Pre-Feasibility Studies or Feasibility Studies) or detailed design in execution phase. 

Able to travel to the project sites from time-to-time to meet project requirements, you also take pride in your interpersonal skills, hold a positive outlook and remain open to change.
