Sandfire Resources Appoints Maree Arnason as NED

18 December 2015 – Sandfire Resources NL (ASX: SFR; “Sandfire”) is pleased to advise that experienced resource industry executive Maree Arnason has been appointed an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Company.
Maree Anderson is an experienced director and senior executive whose career has spanned 30 years in industries focused on resources, energy, transport and FMCG/manufacturing. Following development of her senior executive career with ASX-listed companies including BHP Billiton and Wesfarmers, Maree has broadened her work over the past 10 years to include directorships in listed and private companies. This has also included peak industry and not-for-profit organisations, as well as executive roles leading strategic development and commercial projects. Ms Arnason has held leadership roles undertaking complex commercial transactions and projects with a particular emphasis on risk and reputation.
Maree has considerable business experience across the ASX Top 20 and emerging project and development companies in remote, regional and corporate Australian environments.
She is a past National Director of the Australia China BusinessCouncil and a serving member of their WA Executive Committee.She is a Non-Executive Director of ASX-listed mineral sands company MZI Resources and aged care services organisation Juniper, a member of CEDA’s WA State Advisory Council and a Co-Founder/Director of Energy Access Services, who operate a WA-focused independent wholesale gas trading platform.
Sandfire Chairman Derek La Ferla said Ms Arnason would bring a host of skills and experience which were now essential for successful resource companies. “Ms Arnason has substantial corporate expertise across exploration, large capital projects and operations and in-depth industry knowledge of subjects such as the environment and sustainability, government, and indigenous affairs,” Mr La Ferla said. “Her skills in these vital areas will be immensely valuable to Sandfire as we meet our obligations to the Company’s wide range of stakeholders.”
