Role Summary

Albemarle is looking for an experienced mining professional to join our Lithium Resources Group to assist in the evaluation and portfolio development of lithium hard rock and brine deposits. Supporting the Lithium Resources group, the Mining Analyst will provide technical insights that enable the assessment of new technologies and resource development opportunities via the preparation and analysis of competitive intelligence and benchmarking. The role will also assist teams to source, analyze, and select resource development opportunities and associated technologies to unlock future resource potential.  Interaction with group Mining Engineering, Geology, and Processing functions will be required. The role will suit an accomplished resource professional with operational and technical experience seeking to apply their skills across a global resource portfolio. Given the pace of growth and investment in lithium, the selected candidate will operate with a high degree of agility across analytical, technical and project responsibilities.

This position is part of the Lithium Resources Group and will report to the Leader – Resource Development. The position is based in our Charlotte, North Carolina headquarters.

 

Essential Functions

  • Competitive intelligence / monitoring of resource activity
  • Develop and maintain a global resources database
  • Assessment and analysis of new resource options and strategies
  • Assessment of non-conventional resources & enabling technologies
  • Support the development of robust processes to facilitate resource governance across our portfolio
  • Influence the adoption of industry best practices across the business
  • Monitor the performance of our existing operations and identify improvement initiatives
  • Support leadership in the oversight and management of joint venture operations
  • Collaborate within the Lithium business to ensure proper input across all fields to ensure the success of growth projects and operations

 

Desired Requirements

  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in planning & scheduling capacities on large capital projects ($150M+) across all study lifecycle phases.
  • Extensive experience of planning & scheduling through the execution phase of large capital project ($150M+) delivery, including detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to understand technical information and communicate progress to both technical and management level personnel.
  • Exceptional management and positive leadership experience managing planning & scheduling staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with project teams to influence and achieve desired results.
  • Exceptional reporting and presentation skills with good attention to detail.

 

Experience/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project controls tools and work processes: Earned Value Management, MS Office (spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, graphics) and Project Controls software (Primavera, etc.).

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum B.S. or Engineering degree in Mining, Chemical, Metallurgical or Geology field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a mining operational or technical role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Technical and operational roles within a mine site or mining-related setting
  • Experience within resource engineering or resource development functions
  • Operating experience in Australia, Chile or North America highly regarded
