Maureen Jensen Recipient of the Trailblazer Award 2014

Published: 26/02/2014

The fabulous Maureen Jensen will be the recipient of the Trailblazer Award this year and the honour is well deserved.

The Award has been set up by Women in Mining Canada in 2013 to be a yearly award which “recognises women who have taken personal career risks and helped to advance the careers of other women”. The award is presented during the annual international women in mining reception hosted by Women in Mining Canada at PDAC. What prompted WIM Canada to create this award was the lack of visible female role models in senior positions. This is highlighted not only by several studies but by many women I speak to regularly that work in the industry.

This follows awards in Australia and their presentation is set up to coincide with Women’s Day.
