Job position: SC Spares & Standards Specialist

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinating with AM Logistics Belgium of transport requirements in order to ensure that spares are delivered in the correct sequence, at the right time.
  • Ensuring minimal cost for transportation through review of consolidation options and discussions with AM Logistics Belgium
  • Co-ordinating of Quality Inspectors in order to ensure that spares are inspected at the suppliers, before delivery to the site, where required and reporting any deviations.
  • Ensuring that the site receives all material and goods in the correct sequence, on time.
  • Ensuring that all transport is loaded correctly with the correct spares list.
  • Assisting the procurement department with all relevant documentation required from the suppliers
  • Liaising with the OR Team in order to ensure the correct material is delivered when required.
  • Facilitating with technical queries raised by the suppliers to be closed by OR Team
  • Ensure that coding of P2 operational spares is performed correctly
  • Assisting AML CPO in finalizing warehousing and materials management strategy, processes and procedures for operational spares Safety
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and respect the implementation of change as directed by the P2 Project Director and / or AML CEO.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings with department personnel and ensure the agreed action plans are achieved.
  • Participate in a pro-active safety culture by the identification, development, and review of safe practices and procedures and by ensuring the awareness of all departmental personnel.
  • Actively promote the compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensure all health and hygiene risks in the work areas are identified and reported.

Environment

  • Seek advice and assistance from the Environment team in the development and implementation of improvement programmes to achieve aspects such as agreed eco-efficiency targets, hazardous waste disposal and spill cleanup.

  • Design people skills transfer objectives and outcomes and where possible identify future potential and tailor-make development plans
  • Coach and mentor within the AML Supply Chain team and conduct on the job coaching and training to ensure Arcelor Mittal Liberia leadership values are promoted and embedded, including safety, teamwork, responsibility, integrity, leadership, excellence and innovation.
  • Develop Personal development plan and succession plan for key positions.

Finance

  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and to streamline processes
  • Ensure good governance, including the effective use of management systems to monitor compliance to business direction and policies
  • Ensure financial documentation is maintained to support accurate record-keeping and future requirements as per legislation
  • Escalate potential risks that may lead to increased costs or financial losses

Education Requirements for this position (Formal qualifications) Essential 

  • Completion of a recognized Engineering Trade Test
  • Diploma (or equivalent) in Supply Chain / Materials Management

Key Experiences Needed-Essential

  • 5-10 years relevant technical experience in a Supply Chain environment with at least 3 years of analysis and reporting in the Mining industry.
  • Sound working knowledge of SAP (Supply Chain Management module) and advanced computer literacy (MSOffice, SQL programming)

Desirable

  • Supervisory/middle management development training
  • Commercial acumen

Specific Skills required-Essential

  • Experience with the development and implementation of SAP-based Supply Chain modules
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and dispersed workforce
  • Ability to develop, analyze and understand budgets and reports • Demonstrate leadership and experience in safety
  • Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge quickly, of the requirements to carry out incident investigations

ABOUT THE TEAM
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc.
In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa.
These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia.
Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
