ArcelorMittal Infrastructures ou Exploitation minière Canada est à la recherche d’un Conseiller principal, décarbonisation, qui relèvera de la direction de l’ingénierie et sera chargé de soutenir tous les efforts de décarbonation dans l’ensemble du programme. Il sera la personne-ressource pour toutes les demandes de décarbonation et sera responsable de l’évaluation, de l’adoption et de l’installation des technologies pour atteindre les objectifs de réduction des émissions de carbone. De plus, il devra contribuer à façonner la stratégie de décarbonation grâce à leur expertise et à leur proximité avec la technologie.

Principales responsabilités

  • Fournir une opinion d’expert sur toutes les questions de décarbonation sous la direction du responsable de la gestion de l’ingénierie;
  • Soutenir et collaborer pour atteindre nos objectifs de décarbonation à travers un portefeuille de projets (méthode de flottation, pyrolyse, biocarburants);
  • Identifier et poursuivre de nouvelles opportunités de projets d’affaires (tels qu’identifiés par l’équipe de direction), rencontrer les clients et préparer des études et des projets;
  • Diriger ou assister les équipes de projet dans le développement de nouvelles affaires et de nouveaux projets;
  • Évaluer et analyser les technologies, les produits et les fournisseurs de sources/stockage d’énergie et aider les clients dans la sélection et la mise en œuvre de la technologie et des fournisseurs;
  • Soutenir l’équipe de projet dans l’identification, la définition et la mise en œuvre de cas d’utilisation de la bioénergie;
  • Élaborer des rapports techniques écrits qui transmettent efficacement les concepts de bioénergie, les cas d’utilisation et les résultats des études de faisabilité à divers types de publics;
  • Diriger, collaborer et encadrer des équipes de projet multidisciplinaires pour assurer la satisfaction des chefs de projet tout au long du programme;
  • Fournir une assistance technique lors des réunions techniques, des présentations de projets et des négociations;
  • Examiner l’assurance qualité des schémas conceptuels, des plans de conception technique, des spécifications techniques, des estimations de coûts et des documents de construction des projets;
  • Fournir des apports et des hypothèses techniques pour les modèles de marché de la bioénergie et du carbone afin de caractériser avec précision les résultats attendus;
  • Développer les capacités organisationnelles pour soutenir les objectifs du projet.

Exigences

  • Baccalauréat en ingénierie ou toute expérience équivalente;
  • Un minimum de 10 ans d’expérience en conception, développement ou mise en œuvre de sources d’énergie renouvelable dans un contexte industrielle;
  • Expérience de travail avec des biocarburants et/ou d’autres sources d’énergie renouvelables;
  • Compréhension des technologies de bioénergie ainsi que l’intégration de ces systèmes dans les installations traditionnelles de production d’électricité et de production d’énergies renouvelables;
  • Compétences en communication écrite et verbale pour une large gamme de publics;
  • Capacité à soutenir efficacement plusieurs projets complexes et urgents;
  • Connaissances techniques pour analyser et interpréter les données et documents techniques liés aux systèmes bioénergétiques;
  • Motivé et joueur d’équipe;
  • Compétences démontrées en leadership et en gestion;
  • Excellentes compétences en communication en anglais et en français.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ArcelorMittal Infrastructure or Mining Canada is seeking a Senior Advisor, Decarbonization, who will report to the Engineering Directorate and be responsible for supporting all decarbonization efforts across the program. He will be the point of contact for all decarbonization requests and will be responsible for the assessment, adoption and installation of technologies to achieve carbon reduction targets. In addition, they will have to contribute to shaping the decarbonization strategy thanks to their expertise and their proximity to technology.

Main responsibilities

  • Provide expert opinion on all decarbonization matters under the direction of the Engineering Management Manager;
  • Support and collaborate to achieve our decarbonization objectives through a portfolio of projects (flotation method, pyrolysis, biofuels);
  • Identify and pursue new business project opportunities (as identified by the management team), meet with clients and prepare studies and projects;
  • Lead or assist project teams in the development of new business and new projects;
  • Evaluate and analyze energy source/storage technologies, products and suppliers and assist customers in the selection and implementation of technology and suppliers;
  • Support the project team in identifying, defining and implementing bioenergy use cases;
  • Develop written technical reports that effectively convey bioenergy concepts, use cases and feasibility study results to various types of audiences;
  • Lead, collaborate and supervise multidisciplinary project teams to ensure the satisfaction of project managers throughout the program;
  • Provide technical assistance during technical meetings, project presentations and negotiations;
  • Review quality assurance of concept drawings, engineering design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates and project construction documents;
  • Provide technical inputs and assumptions for bioenergy and carbon market models to accurately characterize expected outcomes;
  • Develop organizational capabilities to support project objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any equivalent experience;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, development or implementation of renewable energy sources in an industrial context;
  • Experience working with biofuels and/or other renewable energy sources;
  • Understanding of bioenergy technologies as well as the integration of these systems into traditional electricity production and renewable energy production facilities;
  • Written and verbal communication skills for a wide range of audiences;
  • Ability to effectively support several complex and urgent projects;
  • Technical knowledge to analyze and interpret technical data and documents related to bioenergy systems;
  • Motivated and team player;
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French.

Work timetable

ABOUT THE TEAM
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc.
In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa.
These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia.
Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
