DESCRIPTION DU POSTE

ArcelorMittal Mines Canada est présentement à la recherche d’un Conseiller en santé et sécurité au travail. Le conseiller est responsable des activités relatives à la santé et à la sécurité du travail. Il conseille, oriente et assiste les gestionnaires opérationnels dans le suivi des objectifs en santé et sécurité en regard du programme de prévention et du plan d’action préparés annuellement. Il influence les gestionnaires à la prévention des accidents de travail, met tout en oeuvre pour que les employés développent des réflexes et des attitudes positives en matière de santé-sécurité. Il collabore avec les représentants syndicaux responsables de la prévention.

Principales responsabilités

  • Réponds aux demandes d’information des gestionnaires et employés et s’assure du respect des réglements corporatifs et légaux;
  • Assiste et influence les gestionnaires opérationnels dans l’application de la réglementation, de la carte de travail, de l’analyse de risque, du choix des mesures de protection, du suivi des mesures correctives et des enquêtes et analyse d’accident;
  • Supporte l’implantation des activités liées au programme de prévention de l’organisation;
  • Assure le suivi des activités de prévention;
  • Recherche et facilite l’amélioration des procédures sécuritaires de tâches;
  • Recherche et interprétation des lois, normes, règlements, politiques internes et conventions collectives;
  • Supporte toute activité visant l’amélioration des comportements en Santé-sécurité de l’organisation.

Exigences

  • Certificat en santé-sécurité ou toutes formations et/ou expériences connexes jugées équivalentes;
  • Expérience de 3 à 5 ans dans le domaine de la santé et sécurité du travail en milieu industriel dans un rôle-conseil;
  • Joueur d’équipe;
  • Solides aptitudes en relations interpersonnelles;
  • Bonne capacité de résolution de problèmes et d’analyse;
  • Promotion de la valeur SSE;
  • Capacité à travailler sous pression, à gérer divers dossiers simultanément et à répondre aux échéanciers requis.

Horaire 

Du lundi au vendredi ou encore en mode fly-in fly-out sur un horaire 14-14.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ArcelorMittal Mines Canada is currently looking for an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor. The advisor is responsible for activities relating to occupational health and safety. He advises, guides and assists operational managers in monitoring health and safety objectives with regard to the prevention program and the action plan prepared annually. He influences managers to prevent workplace accidents and does everything possible to ensure that employees develop positive reflexes and attitudes regarding health and safety. He collaborates with the union representatives responsible for prevention.

Main responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for information from managers and employees and ensure compliance with corporate and legal regulations;
  • Assists and influences operational managers in the application of regulations, work cards, risk analysis, choice of protection measures, monitoring of corrective measures and accident investigations and analysis;
  • Supports the implementation of activities related to the organization’s prevention program;
  • Ensures monitoring of prevention activities;
  • Researches and facilitates the improvement of safe task procedures;
  • Research and interpretation of laws, standards, regulations, internal policies and collective agreements;
  • Supports any activity aimed at improving the organization’s health and safety behaviors.

Requirements

  • Health and safety certificate or any related training and/or experience deemed equivalent;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the field of occupational health and safety in an industrial environment in an advisory role;
  • Team player;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Promotion of SSE value;
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage various files simultaneously and meet required deadlines.

Hourly 

Monday to Friday or in fly-in fly-out mode on a 2-2 p.m. schedule.

ABOUT THE TEAM
ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) is operating inside Liberia since 2006, where we are employing approximately 1600 employees and about 1000 contractors mainly in the area of security as well as in transactional manual work like Bush cutting keeping the railway and our concession area free of natural overgrowth, as well as putting tarpaulins on the railcars etc.
In Liberia we are running operations, spread over three locations, our harbour, and our Main offices in Buchanan, and the Nimba region the mines, existing of multiple mining locations at Tokadeh, Gangar and Yuelliton and a Crushing plant and rail loading facility, serviced by our own accommodation settlement in Yekepa.
These locations are all connected with a 260 km Railroad, operated, and managed by AML, as per the MDA between ArcelorMittal and the government of Liberia.
Currently 5 mtpa iron ore (DSO -Direct Shipping Ore) are produced, which will be phased out in the next few years and replaced with Iron Ore Concentrate. The Phase 2 project aims to increase export of Iron Ore to 15 mtpa (concentrate). This was restarted end 2020 after it was put on hold in 2014 due to Ebola outbreak in. Significant civil construction work was already well advanced when the project was put on hold. Phase 2 of the project consist of an iron ore concentrator at the mine, rehabilitation and upgrade of Rail line, and a new iron ore bulk handling terminal in the port.
