Sex differences in depressive symptoms, psychological distress and workplace discrimination among workers in Chilean large-scale mining

This study examines sex differences in mental health and workplace discrimination among 712 workers in Chilean large-scale mining. Women reported higher levels of depressive symptoms, psychological distress, and perceived workplace discrimination than men. The findings highlight discrimination as an important psychosocial and organizational risk. The authors emphasize the need for gender-sensitive approaches to workplace health, safety, and wellbeing. The study calls for more inclusive, psychologically safe, and sustainable working environments in the mining industry.
