IWiM | WIM Champion

It is vital that women’s individual and collective voice be heard for the industry to improve in diversity, governance and sustainability.

Women in Mining (WIM) organisations play an essential role by bringing women and stakeholders together, supporting diversity and being the voice of women in mining in regional and national initiatives.

IWiM has long-lasting and supportive relationships with 40+ WIM organisations globally, as well as its own 10,500+ members and followers across 100 countries.

As WIM Champion, IWiM aims not only to promote all women in mining, including its own members and followers, but also to strengthen and coordinate WIM organisations world-wide to achieve global cohesion.

This is achieved through:

  • IWiM Connections with and among women in mining, WIM organisations and other stakeholders to
    • increase global recognition of WIM organisations’ incredible work and results, including understanding their variety and how IWiM relates to each of them;
    • promote a strong, unified WIM voice and increase support to and among WIM organisations world-wide: to that end, IWiM is structuring its relationships with WIM organisations world-wide through the IWiM Associates Network;
  • IWiM Global Projects including Women on Mining Boards, a 10-month webinar series designed and recorded by IWiM in collaboration with leading experts in 2015-2016, which gave women working in mining or covering the mining sector and interested in directorships an opportunity to learn steps and tools to achieve their goal; and
  • Creating opportunities for IWiM members, members of IWiM Associates and other women in mining by sharing Resources and widely circulating information, job postings, courses and events of interest.

Our impact goal is a diverse network of women in mining and WIM organisations leveraging their game-changing collective strength.
