Purpose of the position:
In the frame of the Weda Bay project in Indonesia, the jobholder is part of the PT Weda Bay Mine Safety team in order to:
- Design, implement and improve measures to limit risks in the workplace as per the SMS and Workshop Safety Management System.
- Guarantee compliance with all local regulation’s operators’ competence, equipment and operations of WBN and contractors’ employees.
- Guarantee the operation of all mine maintenance workshops in safe conditions aligned with WBN’s and Regulatory standards.
- Carries out safety inspection and follows up the resulting actions.
- Manage, coach and mentor a team of safety officers to guarantee knowledge transfer, skills development and effectiveness in execution of their duties.
- Ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of essential requirements critical risks control procedures.
Responsibilities:
Deployment of the safety policy
- Implements measures to limit risks in the workplace as per the SMS.
- Comply with all local regulations governing operators’ competence, equipment and operations of WBN and contractors’ employees.
- Actively leads toolbox talks.
- Organize and facilitates Safety meetings within each operational Area of responsibility.
- Standardizes safety best practice and processes across area of responsibility
Evaluate the safety conditions
- Plans and monitors compliance with the safety management system in the field.
- Carries out safety inspection and follows up the resulting actions.
- Identifies & supports corrective and preventive actions following field visits.
- Ensure HPIs & HPOS are all recognized, reported and investigated.
- Perform Safety Interactions.
- Plans,arranges and participates in group compliance audits (such as Essential Requirements).
- Investigate accidents or incidents to identify root causes and recommend and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Identify training needs and plan training sessions for operations participants (employees & contractors).
Team management, coordination
- Manages, organizes and mobilizes teams in the deployment of safety objectives.
- Is responsible for safety communication (top-down / bottom-up).
- Develops the safety culture at all levels of its scope.
- Identifies and coordinates all training needs for assigned team.
About you:
- B.Sc. or Master’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related discipline,
- Demonstrated safety experience working in Mobile equipment or Mechanical Maintenance facilities (workshops).
- Mechanical technical/ engineering qualification advantageous (but not mandatory)
- Works with initiative and Team oriented. Possesses influential leadership skills.
- Good report writing, data management and analytical skills.
- Proven experience implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures on the field,
- Proven experience working in a multicultural environment and in challenging and dynamic operating environments
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mining industry
