Job Description

 

The Position

The Environmental Specialist (Compliance) provides strategic level environmental advice and direction for the business, leading key environmental compliance and improvement projects across the site and supporting infrastructure.  The role is instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the environmental compliance component of the HSE Management System.

The Environmental Specialist (Compliance) is required to work closely with the senior management team, operational, KEP and other support staff to ensure excellent environmental outcomes.  Provide technical and legislative environmental advice to the site to meet environmental compliance objectives. Plan, schedule and execute environmental audits across the business.

The Environmental Specialist (Compliance) is accountable for accurate and timely reporting of environmental information to internal and external stakeholders.  The role is accountable for the regular review of the site Environmental Management Information System to fulfill the business environmental compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the environmental compliance component of the HSE Management System so that it meets the requirements of ISO14001.
  • Provide strategic level advice to the business to ensure ongoing compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Maintaining the business Environmental Management Information System.
  • Efficiently execute environmental compliance programs (monitoring, auditing, reporting) and deliver timely and accurate reports to various stakeholders;
  • Liaise with government and other regulatory bodies to progress environmental approvals for Kemerton and support infrastructure; and
  • Support the Environmental team in delivering Operational Excellence.

Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements

  • Heavy industry, mining, refining and or processing experience.
  • Skillful in effective communication and stakeholder engagement.

Education / Qualification Requirements

  • Degree qualified with an earth science or environmental engineering major.
