Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Design and establish Occupational Health and Hygiene programs for the operations to meet Teck and regulatory standards focusing on risk and exposure reduction
- Initiate, develop, implement and maintain, physical and chemical exposure monitoring and assessment studies
- Analyze, evaluate and interpret the data obtained and recommend mitigation strategies
- Facilitate the development, execution and reporting of annual site exposure reduction plans
- Oversee occupational health improvement plans and associated activities
- Provide technical OH&H subject matter expertise and lead the team in providing resources to support the operations
- Design and deliver, including train the trainer programs, technical training programs for health and hygiene
- Maintain a constructive liaison relationships with regulatory agencies, the USW , Teck Operations and special project groups
- Oversee maintenance and accurate records of workplace exposures to track historical trends and provide proper reporting to key stakeholders
- Oversee medical surveillance programs and use exposure monitoring data to ensure appropriate workgroups are captured
- Provide leadership and coaching to safety staff on Occupational Health and Hygiene and supports initiatives and professional development of the OH&H team
- Build and maintain budgetary needs for annual and 5 year operational and capital spend for health and hygiene
- Develop and oversee risk profiles related to exposure and hygiene and health improvements
- Coordinate external hygiene consultants and analysis services to ensure the quality of deliverables
- Represent the Health, Safety and Risk team as a subject matter expert on all site OH&H related committees and team
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Occupational Hygiene, or related science degree, with graduate degree preferred
- Certified Industrial Hygienist Certificate from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or Registered Occupational Hygienist from the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists
- Minimum of five years’ experience related to the evaluation and control of occupational exposures in an industrial environment
- Comprehensive working knowledge of applicable Health and Safety regulations and the ability to understand and interpret complex mandatory regulations and their impact
- Familiar with the key aspects of safety leadership and the importance of influencing skills
- Highly effective communication skills with the ability to relate and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Experience in occupational hygiene data management systems considered and asset

Salary Range: $117,000- $144,500
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
