POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Structural Geology is responsible for leading the structural geology function across Eldorado’s geoscience group. The position provides expert guidance in geological mapping, structural data collection and interpretation, and integration of structural geology into exploration and resource development programs. This role plays a critical part in enhancing geological understanding by providing structural expertise to project generation, search space reduction, target generation, property evaluations, and linking geotechnical and hydrogeological studies to support mine planning. This role ensures that structural geology interpretations utilize all available geoscience datasets for coherent, integrated approaches to solving problems and developing opportunities.

As a recognized geoscience technical leader, the Manager, Structural Geology has global reach with accountability for structural geology and its integration with wider geoscience technical disciplines across the company. The Manager, Structural Geology liaises between and works closely with Exploration, Technical Services, Projects, Operations and wider stakeholders to provide structural expertise in order to deliver outcomes that ultimately roll up into annual corporate measures. Demonstrable leadership in health, safety and sustainability, and promotion of Eldorado’s core values, is foundational to the role.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager, Structural Geology will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop, implement and oversee the application of structural geology across the geoscience group including exploration and mine environments and new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide structural expertise into key areas of the business (e.g., Exploration, Technical Services, resource modeling, hydrogeology, geotechnical studies and mine planning, and Corporate Development).
  • Train and mentor junior geologists and foster technical excellence across the organization.
  • Drive the development and implementation of structural geology standards and guidelines and ensure alignment within broader geoscience workflows.
  • Support development and implementation of the Exploration strategy and takes accountability for structural geoscience deliverables to the business.

Technical Expertise:

  • Conduct and oversee structural mapping, core logging, and interpretation of structural data through desktop analyses and field and drill programs.
  • Integrate structural geology with topographical, geophysical, geochemical, and lithological datasets to refine geological models.
  • Ensure accurate and effective structural models are developed for the appropriate metallogenic setting.
  • Support resource modeling and geostatistics with structural controls on mineralization.
  • Advise on geotechnical and hydrogeological aspects relevant to mine design, stability, and safety.

Innovation & Integration:

  • Champion the use of advanced structural modeling tools (e.g., Leapfrog, Move, GIS, geomechanical modelling) for practical application (e.g., targeting, reducing risk, identification of new resource opportunities).
  • Drive innovation in data acquisition (e.g., oriented core, televiewer, digital field data collection), implementation, and support structural geology AI application and integration across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Technical Services to enhance predictive modeling particularly with respect to geometallurgy and geotechnical studies.
  • Monitor industry, academia, and specialist service providers for new advances and innovations in structural geology and provide recommendations on these advances to management and technical staff.

Project Support:

  • Provide structural input into development of generative framework studies, search space reduction exercises, generation of targets, project evaluations, and delivery of technical reports.
  • Participate in due diligence and technical reviews for new business opportunities.
  • Represent the company in technical forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional geoscientist, or eligibility for, as required under Canadian Provincial Professional Governance Acts.
  • MSc or PhD in Structural Geology, Geoscience, or related field is an asset.
  • Extensive experience of 5+ years in mineral exploration or mining with a strong focus on structural geology.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing technical teams and projects and supporting operational teams in the applications of structural geology to practical needs.
  • Proficiency in geological modeling software and geological databases.
  • Expert understanding of mineral systems and structural controls on ore deposits.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to travel nationally or internationally; the expected travel requirement is up to 30% per year.

 

The salary range for this position is $160,000 to $207,000. The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, taking into consideration internal equity. Qualified candidates with the required qualifications and relevant experience can expect an offer between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. Progression toward the higher end of the range is based on higher qualifications and experience or demonstrated performance in the role.
