The Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario (APGO) Award of Merit was established in 2016, with the intention of presenting the award annually to a deserving individual member who, during the course of their career, has made significant contributions to the geoscience profession.
The successful candidate for the award will have been a practicing member of APGO for ten years or more and, during the course of their career, will have:
- Made a significant contribution to the geoscience knowledge base; and/or
- Made a significant contribution to the fields of environmental geoscience, mineral exploration and development or geophysics; and/or
- Contributed significantly to public service and protection of the public; and
- Whose actions and accomplishments reflect positively on the geoscience profession.
Please note that, while the nominee must have been an Ontario P.Geo. for ten years or more, their accomplishments may have been attained anywhere in the world
This is an opportunity to recognize success in the geoscience profession.
Please send a written nomination, 400 words maximum, stating your name, the nominee’s name, and a brief description of the nominee’s academic background, career and accomplishments that in your opinion make them a suitable recipient of this award.

Council intends to present the 2018 APGO Award of Merit at the Annual General Meeting in Toronto, Ontario on June 7, 2018.
