Role Summary

Albemarle is looking for an experienced operator to support a multidisciplinary team as they execute multiple field activities required to evaluate the feasibility of reopening a brownfield site for spodumene concentrate production.

This position will support the daily activities taking place on site as wells as interfacing with the existing facility to ensure proper communication and adherence to existing safety, environmental and corporate standards.

This position is part of the lithium resources organization reporting to the Group Metallurgist. The position is based in our Kings Mountain, North Carolina location.


Essential Functions

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area while complying with safety and environmental requirements at all times, i.e., MSHA, site permits, etc.
  • Receive training regarding the project areas and demonstrate the material learned in training while working with other operators or contractors.
  • Drive/hike to remote locations over rough terrain and conduct labor intensive work which might include lifting rocks, clearing vegetation, installing instrumentation and others as required.
  • Assist with construction and work site preparation activities such as helping move/install furniture, mark roads, and install signs.
  • Assist with preparation of samples for analysis using appropriate techniques
  • Operation of hand/power tools (hammers, shovels, drills, as required for different tasks),
  • Equipment/facility minor maintenance such as troubleshooting water/slurry pumps and miscellaneous instrumentation to be installed on site for monitoring purposes.
  • Operate pickup trucks with trailers and other equipment such as UTV
  • Occasionally may be asked required to life moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required
  • Must be flexible with rotating work shifts, and willing to work overtime
  • Miscellaneous material lifting/handling
  • Other duties may be assigned



  • Knowledge of MSHA mine safety regulations preferred
  • Mining. Quarry, Mineral’s processing plant operations experience preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards
