General Requirements

Albemarle is looking for an experienced operations leader to support a multidisciplinary team assessing the feasibility of reopening a brownfield site. Initially, the role with focus on the safe and efficient execution of the site surveying, drilling, sample collection and water and air quality monitoring.

 

This position will also be responsible for coordinating the daily activities taking place on site as well as interfacing with the existing facility to ensure proper communication and adherence to existing safety, environmental and corporate standards.

 

This position will also be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, monitoring and oversight of the site safety plans to transition from OSHA oversight to MSHA oversight.

This position is part of the lithium resources organization reporting to the Group Metallurgist. The position is based in our Kings Mountain, North Carolina location.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work from different groups and contractors, assigning priorities and overseeing their performance in a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Ensures all work and activities are performed safely and in accordance with environmental regulations
  • Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and acts as needed
  • Trains, monitors, and oversees direct staff and contractors in safety processes and procedure, ensuring compliance to all applicable protocols and regulations
  • Ensure tools, materials, supplies, and equipment is available to safely and efficiently complete tasks under his/her oversight
  • Constantly communicates with internal and external stakeholder work progress and job requirements
  • Support the roll out and implementation of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMP) throughout the site
  • Collaborate with purchasing and logistics to review, manage and optimize site requirements for labor, materials, and parts

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum associates degree in an engineering related field, or 10+ years of relevant work experience in a mining/minerals processing setting
  • Previous mining, quarry or minerals processing plant operations supervision required
  • Experience leading multifunctional teams under MSHA oversight is essential
  • Experience in the safety management of processing plants and/or associated facilities.
  • Experience overseeing multiple contractors, managing their schedule, productivity, and deliverables
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills. Understanding of basic mechanical and/or electrical principles
  • Strong knowledge of MSHA mine safety regulations
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple operating units with competing resource requirements.
  • Must be self-motivated and with a demonstrated ability to motivate others
  • Knowledge of contracting and contracting strategies.
  • Experience leveraging outside services in completion of engineering, procurement, and construction services to complete projects either as a whole or in pieces
  • Ability to supervise multi-disciplined teams.
  • Practical knowledge concerning design and operation of common process equipment such as pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, piping, etc.

 

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • B.S. or Engineering degree preferred with 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience
  • Experience in start-up and commissioning of new equipment and/or facilities
