For many in the geosciences, fieldwork is a vital – and enjoyable – part of the research process. But problems can arise when small teams of people travel to remote areas, and studies suggest that women are particularly at risk of experiencing negative events. In this panel discussion we will ask several women to share their own experiences in the field before starting a discussion of how the geoscience community as a whole can ensure that fieldwork is accessible and rewarding for everyone.
The panellists are: Dr Pallavi Anand, Dr Bethan Davies, Prof Dame Francis, Dr Sam Giles, and Dr Sarah Gordon, with moderator Robbie Gries, president of the Geological Society of America.
A reception to celebrate the return of the Raising Horizons exhibition to the Geological Society will follow.
17:30 Registration with tea and coffee
