Women are an integral part of society, hence, it is not only important but pivotal to increment their participation in activities that are closely related to the energy sector, in which mining is key. This webinar will address how women in mining play an essential role in advancing this industrial sector, in all roles and for all segments. Cases and best practices already implemented in Australia and South Africa will be shared, as well as the vision of IWiM, International Women in Mining, an organization aimed to enhance representation and development of women in the mining industry globally. The perspectives and experience of three renown speakers from top companies in the mining sector will provide their deep-dive insights, that will elevate your knowledge about what, how, when and why women are advancing rapidly in the mining industry.

 

Speakers

Ludivine Wouters
Ludivine Wouters is a director of International Women in Mining (IWiM). She is a governance and policy consultant with expertise in strategy, government relations and permitting, assisting natural resources companies and investors in emerging markets and African States on mining policy, governance and taxation.Ludivine has experience in political risk insurance within a Lloyd’s insurance syndicate, and significant legal experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets with leading international firms in Paris; she also worked for an emerging markets investment bank in London, focusing on metals and mining clients, particularly African juniors.  In 2013, Ludivine was nominated by her peers to be one of 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining.

 

Bjanka Korb
Bjanka Korb is a senior environmental engineer at SRK Consulting, who works primarily in mine water management and water use optimisation. Bjanka’s experience also includes due diligence reporting and feasibility studies, and she is registered as a professional engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. A chemical engineer by training, Bjanka is passionate about sustainable development and furthered her studies by completing a master’s degree in Development Practice. It was during her dissertation that Bjanka entered the gender diversity space, while conducting a case study on leadership in gender diversity in the South African mining sector. Bjanka strives to make a positive impact in the fields of water and sanitation, and to demonstrate that women can thrive in the STEM disciplines of the mining sector.

 

Jules Brown
Juleen is an environmental manager and mining engineer with 20 years’ experience. Her experience includes managing large Environmental Impact Assessments, on-site environmental management, provision of strategic approvals advice, environmental support and advice for large multidisciplinary feasibility studies, closure planning and coordination of technical teams undertaking complex environmental studies. She has also coordinated, prepared and presented at large stakeholder consultation forums and liaised with all levels of government. Juleen is a Chartered Professional (Environment) with the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM), and committee member and past Chair of Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ).
