Speaker: Fred J. Matiko – Legacy Giving Officer STARS Air Ambulance

Following a 30 year career at SaskTel, Fred is now a part of the STARS Foundation team. During his career at SaskTel, he spent the last 15 years in sales, and took the skills and lessons he learned from that career and ventured into a second career of professional fundraising.

Fred started his fundraising career in 2009 working as the Development Officer at the U of S, College of Medicine and was involved in raising funding for the new Health Sciences Building, the Colleges student award programs and other research projects.

Since early 2012, Fred has been a part of the STARS Foundation in Saskatoon. The first five years as the Major Gifts Manager reaching out and building relationships with primarily corporate donors, raising funds and support for STARS. For the past 3 years he has been focusing on the STARS Legacy Giving program, and growing the STARS Legacy program in Saskatchewan. He finds his time at STARS to be very rewarding in representing an organization that is here in the province for all the people and the opportunity to meet and work with so many wonderful individual and corporate donors.

Fred is married and has two adult daughters who are both getting established into their careers. He enjoys curling, which the last number of years he watches rather than plays, and also enjoys cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, which hopefully will be playing again next year. https://stars.ca/
