Gracias al aporte de la Unión Europea, ONU Mujeres a través del programa “Win-Win” convoca a organizaciones de Europa y de América Latina a iniciar un diálogo reflexivo que apoye a la industria a transitar hacia un sector más sostenible y sustentable, así como también más equitativo e inclusivo, a través de la mayor participación laboral de las mujeres en el sector. El objetivo del evento es SENSIBILIZAR sobre las crecientes desigualdades de género producto de la crisis COVID 19 y cómo los sectores de energía y minería pueden responder a ello. Y MOVILIZAR al generar un espacio de diálogo y reflexión desde las experiencias de empresas de América Latina y Europa en estos dos sectores específicos de la economía, y sus respuestas a la crisis considerando el efecto desproporcionado que ha tenido en las mujeres en materia laboral.

La pandemia ha acelerado la necesidad de respuesta a una transformación digital del mundo laboral, ha acentuado las brechas de género en la ocupación laboral y también, ha puesto de manifiesto la vulnerabilidad a la que están expuestas las mujeres trabajadoras en América Latina en relación a la seguridad social, regímenes de pensiones y de salud, particularmente. Tampoco podemos olvidar la importancia de reconocer los cuidados, ya que en América Latina las mujeres trabajan el doble y hasta el triple de tiempo que los hombres en cuidados no remunerados.

Explorar nuevas estrategias y alianzas para el desarrollo de una nueva mejor normalidad, más sostenible e inclusiva es un imperativo para enfrentar la crisis y también para atenuar los efectos del cambio climático y crear oportunidades para hombres y mujeres.

Thanks to the contribution of the European Union, UN Women through the “Win-Win” program summons organizations in Europe and Latin America to initiate a thoughtful dialogue that supports the industry move towards a more sustainable equitable and inclusive sector, through the greater participation of women in the sector.

The objective of the event is to raise awareness about the growing gender inequalities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and how the energy and the mining sectors can respond to it, and mobilize by generating a space for dialogue and reflection from the experiences of companies in Latin America and Europe in these two specific sectors of the economy. And to record their responses to the crisis considering the disproportionate effect that it has had upon women in labour matters.

The pandemic has accelerated the need to respond to a digital transformation of the workplace. It has accentuated gender gaps in employment and has also revealed the vulnerability to which working women are exposed in Latin America in relation to the social security, pension and health regimes in particularly. Nor can we forget the importance of recognizing that in Latin America women work twice as hard and even three times as long as men, without compensation.

Explore new strategies and alliances for the development of a new better normality; a more sustainable and inclusive one is imperative to face the crisis and also to mitigate the effects of climate change and creating opportunities for men and women alike.
