The Mining Sundowner takes place next week upstairs at The Kings Arms, Shepherd Market, 17h30 onwards.
Drew Craig and Michael Short have proposed that we take the Sundowner community into the sunshine on a fly-fishing outing. I am all for this idea and no doubt some of you will be also.
They propose to keep it simple and accessible for both beginner and veteran ‘fluff-flickers’.
On location: the Albury Estate is located near to Guildford and provides a mix of stocked ponds and streams. There are some wonderful trophy fish available and the surroundings are reportedly very pleasant on a fine autumn afternoon or evening.
There are a couple of options available:
- Securing access to one of the ponds for our exclusive use; or,
- Taking day tickets and joining in with other Albury members.
Additional options include instruction, rod hire, marquee, catering, flies of the day, etc.
To get an idea of what might work best, Drew has asked that interested parties drop him a line (no pun intended). He proposes September or October and most likely on a Saturday. Subject to interest, we could add in some social beers at a nearby venue or perhaps even arrange a braai/BBQ/barbie. If you would consider sponsoring the outing, that would be very gratefully received of course. Please send a note to email@example.com.
I look forward to seeing you upon my return next week.
